ur riders come to us with a wide variety of disabilities including
autism, brain injury, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, multiple sclerosis,
emotional and developmental disabilities. Riders of all ages are
helped via our three programs; approximately 75% are under age eighteen.
Current reports from medical and education professionals are obtained
for each rider and studied by our professional staff. We coordinate
efforts with over 25 social service agencies. Our instructors use
this information to develop individual lesson plans and goals and
to document each rider's progress.
We require a completed application
packet (click on Links & Forms) and each rider meets with an
instructor or therapist before being scheduled to ride. Please note
that High Horses serves as many riders as we can safely and effectively
accommodate.
Depending on individual needs, a rider may be scheduled for either
private or group lessons, may ride with either a therapist or a
certified instructor, or may be offered a spot in our un-mounted
program. The High Horses staff and medical consultants are happy
to discuss these options with you.
Our riders and their families gave
High Horses a straight "A" approval rating on our recent
year-end survey. Each year we welcome many returning riders as well
as many new riders-we look forward to hearing from you!
