Laura Davis - Board Member
Laura Helen Davis is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from Dartmouth College in 1982
with a degree in Russian Language and Literature, summa cum laude, and then graduated from Harvard
Law School in 1986. While at Dartmouth, Laura played lacrosse, was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma,
and elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Laura wrote her Senior Honors Thesis with Professor Lev Loseff, who was
friends with the famous Nobel Prize winning poet Joseph Brodsky. At Harvard Law School, Laura was a
member of Lincoln’s Inn and a research assistant to several international law professors. Laura is fluent
in both Russian and French, speaks reasonable Spanish, and has traveled extensively.
Laura practiced corporate and commercial real estate law in Washington, D.C. in private firms until
1993, when she took a management position with a USAID contractor privatizing land in the former
Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. In 1997 Laura joined Amoco as an International Negotiator and
subsequently held positions as Chief of Staff for the Houston Region Vice President, and Commercial
Manager. At Amoco and BP (after merger with Amoco), she negotiated energy deals in Spain,
Venezuela, France, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, and other
countries.
Laura lives in Houston and is married with two children – a son Christopher, and daughter Catherine
Grace Beilstein (“Grace”) who is in the Class of 2026 at Dartmouth. Her family also has an Upper Valley
home in Norwich Vermont. Laura currently serves as President of Women of Dartmouth Houston, and
runs the Dartmouth Mom group in Houston. She served as a Board Member of the Harvard Club of
Houston from 2008 until 2024, and on the Board of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association of
Houston from 2008 until 2012. She also served on the Board of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Charitable
Foundation of Houston from 2009 to 2012, and as its Legal Advisor.
