Kindra Hillman - Assistant Barn Manager
Kindra was one of those horse obsessed little girls who read all the books, saw all the films, colored all the coloring books, but wasn’t able to get her own horse until she was in her early 30’s. It was everything she hoped it would be! She and her husband owned horses for 15 years on their property in the foothills of North Eastern California, and took them out trail riding as often as possible. Eventually the horses passed away, wildfires knocked at their doorstep too frequently, and Kindra and her husband moved to Vermont.
For Kindra, finding a place at High Horses in February of 2025 has been a perfect fit. She loves learning the unique personalities of the entire herd of horses, and taking excellent care of them, as is the High Horses standard. Though she was new to the world of equine therapy, Kindra very quickly became inspired to take every opportunity to learn about it, and is honored to witness the deep healing it can facilitate.
While her formal education culminated in a B.S. in Earth Sciences, Kindra’s life experience kept drawing her to farming and animal care. Kindra has managed a restaurant, a Geotechnical soils laboratory, and finally her own farm (including horses, goats, chickens, LGD’s, produce and an orchard), but this is her first equine therapy management position. As Assistant Barn Manager she facilitates horse care with other staff and volunteers, and supports the Barn Manager. Kindra sees an important part of her position as Assistant Barn Manager as being a liaison between horses, volunteers, and staff–supporting all so they can focus on client care and healing. And there is always a horse to hug if she needs her own therapy!
